"A Theft in The House"

September fifth was a day to dread. I just wanted to stay home and lay in bed.
As I worried about what to expect from my first day of school,
I wondered how my puppy, Austin would behave without rules.

He was a seventeen week old Shih Tzu,
Whom I taught "sit" and "lay down" too.
Austin has short legs because of his breed.
This meant that he could not walk up the stairs without being carried.

I knew I would miss him a lot during the day.
All I wanted to do was take him for a walk and play.
My brother, Martin came home and saw the house was a mess.
Austin tore papers and napkins into shreds.

All of the bedroom doors were not properly closed.
Austin saw his opportunity to take what he chose.
He took our laundry and sneakers from our rooms
Which we had to retrieve in the afternoon.

Every morning I close all of the bedroom doors
Because I do not want him to pull our laundry out from our drawers.
Austin is a smart deceiving puppy.
I make sure they do not overfeed him and make him chubby.

  1. I love your picture! Your dog Austin is really adorable. I work at a puppy store that is all hypoallergenic puppies so I have a soft spot for Shih-Tsus. I felt the same way about leaving my dog alone all day on the first day of school.

  2. I love your puppy but I had no idea how much of a mess such a cute little dog could make! I have a cat who is pretty lazy so I don't have to worry about her doing anything my stuff. Good job! :)

  3. AUSTIN !!! I still forget to close the doors in your house just so that he doesn't make a mess, but he's just too cute. Especially when he tore up the volleyball schedule and your earphones lol. Love your poem(:
